YouTube is stepping up their game when it comes to competing in the live-streamer space with the Amazon-owned platform Twitch, and are reportedly developing their own Twitch-like emotes for chat.
The new emote-feature is called YouTube Emotes, and can be utilized across YouTube in comment sections and during live chats as well, although YouTube already allowed individual streamers to offer their own reactions and emotes in the past.
According to the Verge, members will now see a list of YouTube emotes when you open YouTube’s emoji picker and will appear below a specific channel’s own custom emotes, with each having specific names for autocomplete, much like Twitch.
“We’re starting with emotes created for Gaming but are working on bringing even more themes of emotes in the future, so stay tuned for emotes for even more communities!” YouTube stated in a community post.
