Instagram is rolling out a new option that will allow users to share feed posts with only their Close Friends in an effort to facilitate more enclosed group engagement on the social media app owned by Meta.
The new feature was outlined, with images, by influencer marketing professional Lia Haberman (via creator Jordan Shalhoub) where some Instagram users are now seeing seeing a new ‘Audience’ selector option when composing a new post.
This allows them to share their feed post with ‘Close Friends’ only instead of sharing it with everyone. Any option that a member uses will not impact their Facebook audience settings when cross-posting on Facebook and Instagram.
Instagram has leaned into their goal for more private group engagement, as opposed to public posting, and their goal to make Direct Messaging more feature-rich, and being able to do more within it.
