The X platform, formerly known as Twitter, has rolled out audio and video call capabilities to non-paying users as another example of how important the feature is to the team behind the social media platform.
According to the team, they are slowly rolling out audio and video calling to non premium users and members will have the ability to choose allow calls from everyone.
X launched audio and video calls with X Premium subscribers back in October 2023 for iOS and then launched it on Android last month, and despite the market pretty set with options like WhatsApp, it doesn’t seem like the demand is there for the ability to do so on X.
X owner Elon Musk has pushed it further by stating that he is getting rid of his own telephone number because his platform will serve as a replacement for his telecommunications, but how valuable that move is in the eyes of the social media platform users remains to be seen.
Regardless, it seems incredible important to X.
