Twitch is removing it’s Prime Video Watch Party feature from the platform close to four years after it was made available to all users, officially closing the feature that became a hit during the pandemic lockdown on April 2nd.
The feature was rolled out and became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic when the world was under lockdown and was used to connect with others and watch content despite not being in the same room with one another.
According to Variety, almost one-fifth of adults within the United States had participated in a virtual co-viewing experience back in 2020.
Twitch released a statement regarding the sunsetting of Watch parties, saying that the feature’s usage on its platform has “declined over the years.”
