YouTube is expanding their testing in regards to AI-generated live chat summaries, which at first was tested with comment topics on regular uploads in the app, but is now going to be done for live videos.
The test with live videos will see comments separated into topic groups during a stream.
According to YouTube: “To help you more quickly understand and participate in the exciting conversations that happen via YouTube live chat, we’re experimenting with AI-generated live chat summaries. If you’re in the experiment group, you’ll see a banner display at the top of the live chat when you join a live stream that’s accrued sufficient chat activity prior to you joining.”
- These chat summaries are created from published chats (which means they won’t use text held for review or that contains blocked words or was sent by blocked users). If you want to leave feedback on the summaries, you can do so by clicking the 3-dot menu > Send feedback.
- This experiment is rolling out to a small percentage of viewers who join eligible live streams in English that have super active live chat conversations happening. The experimental feature is not available in every country at this time. We hope AI-generated live chat summaries make it easier for you to discuss topics you are interested in with the YouTube Live community”
