It’s been a rough year thus far for Twitch, but a sliver of good news hit today that at least gives the Amazon owned streaming platforms something to celebrate.
Twitch’s viewership saw a 6% bump during the month of January as it hit 1.9 billion hours watched, according to StreamElements and Rainmaker. gg’s monthly ‘State of the Stream report‘.
“It’s promising to see Twitch achieving a new peak with five consecutive months of growth in daily hours watched” StreamElements co-founder Or Perry said. “However, it is too soon to know if the broader gaming audience is finally embracing the platform, as January always attracts more viewers than December. With more creators embracing multi-streaming, such as Pokimane going platform-agnostic, it is only a matter of time before the positive impact of pulling in more viewers from different apps is felt on Twitch.”
Additionally, daily hours watched reached 61.4 million and has demonstrated continuous growth since September 2023. As the report says, “Twitch started the new year with 1.902B monthly hours watched in January 2024, which is a 6% increase compared to December 2023’s 1.790B.”
Palworld made it’s mark in the streaming world becoming one of the first smash hits of 2024, as the report outlined- Palworld clocked 59 million hours watched, enough to make Twitch’s Top 10 Most Watched, just behind the likes of Fortnite, Escape on Tarkov, League of Legends, Grand Theft Auto and Just Chatting.
