Watching Entertainment has built a substantial business model on the YouTube platform that has amassed more than 400 million views, but now Watcher Entertainment is leaving the platform to bring their content to their new, subscription-based streaming service.
Watching Entertainment will now offer their full series of original unscripted content, such as: “Ghost Files,” “Mystery Files” and “Puppet History”, all exclusively on their new “Watcher Service” which will not have ads.
The service launched on April 19th and is priced at $5.99/month or $59.99/year, according to Variety. For members who sign up during the platform’s beta period, which runs from April 19th through May 31st, will receive 30% off their first year and will also unlock the opportunity to revive “a previously discontinued cult-favorite series by members-driven vote.”
Watcher was formed by former BuzzFeed creators Steven Lim, Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej, who were the minds behind popular Buzzfeed shows like “Worth It” and “BuzzFeed Unsolved”, issued the following on X on Friday: “We’re leaving YouTube”.
The post included a link to their “Goodbye YouTube” video.
